Produced during Sansui's golden era and for only three years starting in 1976. The 9090DB is considered one of the "best of the best" receivers from the 70's, and is certainly a must-have for serious Sansui collectors.

Struggling for attention and recognition among hi-fi connoisseurs, Sansui introduced the 9090DB in 1976, hailing it as "one of the most technologically advanced receivers on the market" in a sales brochure. A bold statement, indeed, but this receiver had to be unique because it could compete with models such as Pioneer's top-of-the-line SX-1250.
The most costly aspect of this restoration was definitely the work. The 9090DB needs a particularly time-consuming refurbishment due to the need to [carefully] remove and reattach the Dolby NR board. Every signal from the preamplifier flows through this board, so even if Dolby features are not used, it can still cause problems. Refinishing this board is a must for any 9090DB and involves inserting a piece of wire into each via and pouring fresh solder.
It features a 125W per channel power amplifier section, direct readout power meters, analog AM/FM tuner, Dolby noise reduction, bass, mid and treble controls (can be switched off), two tape loops and a phono preamp.

The Vintage Pioneer HPM 1500 - Unique - is one of the famous vintage speakers and the pinnacle of the HPM series. The acronym initially inconsistently meant "High Polymer Mylar", later being consistently referred to as "High Polymer Molecular", especially in the US in the 1980s. This heavy 4-way bass reflex speaker was sold from 1977 to 1980 for $500. The Pioneer HPM 150 was not a typical high-end loudspeaker, but rather a milestone in loudspeaker technology due to two changes. It introduced, on the one hand, the use of new materials (carbon fiber) for the construction of speaker cones, and on the other hand, an innovative "high-frequency high-polymer film".
