Vintage Kenwood KR-6400 amplifier - after full service. Great mid-range vintage style amplifier from the 70s.... There are others with higher power, but this one will keep up with many of them.... Don't be fooled by the 45W RMS power, it easily gives more than the rated power.... This
is our opinion and will surprise most, if not all.
The OCL-type main amplifier consists of a differential amplifier in the first stage and a directly coupled, complementary symmetry amplifier circuit in each subsequent stage. It is designed for heavy-duty applications and features a large heat sink and rugged power transistors. It is also equipped with a "sure-action" protection circuit that includes a sensitive DC detector to protect the loudspeakers and an ASO limiter-type detector that protects the power transistors by operating a relay to interrupt the circuit.
The equalizer's amplifier is a dual low-noise operational amplifier IC, which features very high stability and low distortion. Each audio stage, from input to output, is powered by a positive and negative dual power supply.
The FM front end consists of one FET transistor and two other transistors used in one RF stage. It also contains a 4x linear frequency tuning capacitor.
PLL is used in the MPX section and provides excellent channel separation and better stability.
FM DET Out connectors are available, making the receiver ready to receive 4-channel FM transmissions as soon as they become available. A front knob with a linear scale provides fast and accurate tuning.
